Telling the story of Rwanda and its girls will be a key factor in finding funds to support the school.
White Dove Foundation will create a communications plan to tell the story in a variety of media about how lives will be changed through this school. Our audiences include individual donors, faith communities and faith-based philanthropic organizations, secular nonprofits and foundations whose mission is to promote international education and, through our sponsorship program, school girls who will support their sisters in Butare.
A crucial component of our success will be to engage the skill and contacts of all the team members in telling the story and raising funds.
WDF will execute on general public relations activities like issuing press releases, media relations, arranging interviews and creating a buzz around the activity. In addition, a specific plan for outreach to churches and other philanthropic organizations to solicit volunteers, sponsor events, and other fundraising activities will help to drive results.
Some important tools to be used in telling the story include the WDF website, givemn.org project pages, and social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. Photos and videos will help create emotional impact about the project.
Success in sponsorships will be an important component in helping the school become sustainable. It should be noted that while sponsorship donors may be contributing modest financial amounts to support our project compared with major donors, they also may the best potential source for wider publicity and marketing opportunities as we harness the power of social media to promote sponsorships and share sponsor testimonials.
