Success Stories: A Life Transformed

New Vision Learning Center of Ho Chi Minh City

In 1993, Jake Chaya went to Vietnam with No Longer Music, an evangelistic music and drama ministry. While the tour had many significant events, one central concern was exposed: the cycle of poverty for over 800 years would not be broken unless people had language training and vocational skills training. White Dove Foundation grew from an idea born out of this trip to Vietnam to a non-profit corporation with a focus on leadership training and workplace English skill development.

The New Vision Learning Center (NVLC) was established in October of 1999 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and experienced unprecedented success.   English Tutors International, as WDF's foreign languages department, tutored over 10,000 students in our ESL sessions through 2009.

The NVLC has over 600 students enrolled.  The administration of the school is managing 39 classes a week with a dozen Vietnamese ESL instructors and eight international native instructors from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States.

The NVLC is housed in a four story, eight room building in the heart of the business district.  It is completely equipped and air-conditioned, and stands as a showcase in the city.  High school and college students make up the majority of the enrollees and the tuition is based upon ability to pay.  A second ESL school, also in Ho Chi Minh City, began In April of 2001. This school had success since business English was taught, and with the landmark decision of lifting the trade embargo in Vietnam, new channels for jobs were opened as western capitalists and entrepreneurs ventured into Vietnam seeking a new financial frontier.

Workplace ESL Tutors

White Dove Foundation, in partnership with English Tutors International, is providing opportunities for tutors to help non-English speaking people groups to develop and hone their English skills.  This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to increase the quality of life for another person or perhaps an entire family.

Workplace Tutors focuses on ESL training in the United States as well as developing new programs worldwide with the focus on business English. This includes learning about job descriptions, applications, checking accounts, budgeting, business development, strategic planning, operations and taxes.
