White Dove Foundation, working in a partnership with Steiger International since 1999, is helping to bring hope to many in New Delhi, India by supporting the Delhi House and its satellite Delhi Rescue Clinic for ill and destitute men, and the Sewa Ashram in Narela.
The Delhi House Society was established by a missionary, Ton Snellaert, to provide care for destitute men who are addicted to drugs, incapacitated by tuberculosis, and infected with HIV/AIDS. He has created a team of people who provide care to about 25 men that reside at the Sewa Ashram Delhi House for an average of six months. White Dove seeks to provide resources for medical equipment, supplies, and vocational training to help care for these often forgotten people.
In addition to the Delhi House, Ton Snellaert has also established the Delhi Rescue Clinic in the heart of Delhi. This six bed clinic was converted from a Hindu temple stable. This clinic provides immediate medical care for junkies, lame, and terminally ill men who are picked up off the streets. The men are then moved to clinics, hospitals, or the Delhi House.
The Street House has moved from Delhi to the Sewa Ashram joining the Sewa Ashram. The living quarters are for abandoned children and abused women. A team of missionaries currently cares for orphans and abandoned children by providing medical relief, education, meals and a home for over 20 children.
All of the Delhi House Society initiatives were located in separate parts of the city. However, Tom Snelleart and his team have brought all of these functions together in one place. They have purchased land and have built staff housing, two wards for patients, a bath and restroom facility, a chapel and a stable. The community compound now has secure walls and the acre plot grows its own vegetables and has cows for milk.
